Round 1

Round 1. No more futility of the week, no more domination of the week. From here on out it's win or fuck off.  There were only two matchups in week 14:  #3 Ethan vs #6 Jeff and #4 Derek vs #5 Stacey.  The injury epidemic Jeff has been fighting all year struck again as Dalton went down early but even so he would've needed bigger games from some other guys to beat Ethan.  The final score was 136.12 to 99.76 in favor of the three seed.  The battle of the soon-to-be newlyweds saw Derek beating Stacey rather handily thanks to some anti-clutch performances by Amari Cooper and Dez Bryant as well as a rebirth of Eddie Lacy and another huge day from the Carolina defense.  In the end the four seed Derek took the win over the five seed Stacey 156.82 to 115.60.  It's only round 1 but so far this season is a repeat of last season which saw not one upset in the playoffs or the consolation rounds.

The playoffs really heat up this week as every team has a game.  The marquee matchup is #1 DJ vs #4 Derek (the only team to beat DJ this year).  DJ's week will start on Thursday with rookie phenom Todd Gurley.  We also have #2 Heath vs #3 Ethan which is sure to be a thrilling game.  Those four teams are the only ones left battling for the championship.  The winners will play for the title next week.  Who will taste the sweet flavors of ultimate domination?  The fifth place game will be Stacey vs Jeff in a matchup that, of all the matchups this week, means the least.  The consolation playoffs also begin this week as #7 Brian squares off with #10 Barr and #8 Jake plays #9 Seed.  The winners of those two games will play for the first overall pick in the draft next week.  The losers will play to avoid being the sucko.

Week 13

The domination of the week:  Heath 189.54 -- 140.64 Stacey

Futility of the week:  Derek for losing to Seed and scoring the lowest point total of the week.

What a final week of the regular season.  Lots of points scored all around as each team surpassed 100.  Seed scored the second lowest points of the week but was luckily playing Derek who registered the lowest.  Seed's win and Barr's loss to Brian bumped Barr back down to 10th place.  On the other end of the spectrum, in just three weeks, Heath has gone from 7th place to 2nd place as he's skyrocketed up the standings and into a first round playoff bye with DJ.  His three game win streak along with every other playoff team losing this week and all but Ethan losing in the weeks prior made this possible.  Could Heath go worst to first?  DJ won again and is now 12-1 as he beat Jeff.  And Jake pulled the upset over Ethan, racking up 170 points in his second straight victory.

With the final week of the regular season in the books the playoff matchups are as follows:

#3 Ethan vs #6 Jeff

#4 Derek vs #5 Stacey

With DJ and Heath on first round byes as mentioned earlier.  The four teams in the consolation playoff will all have byes this week.  They will compete in a two game playoff beginning next week and the matchups will be:

#7 Brian vs #10 Barr

#8 Jake vs #9 Seed

Good luck to everyone in the Domination League playoff.  Only one will dominate.

Week 12

The domination of the week:  Ethan 135.30 -- 99.72 Jeff

Futility of the week:  Derek for scoring 166 in a losing effort to Jake.

One more week until the playoffs.  This week saw tons of points scored, much to the dismay of Derek who put up an impressive 166 but was unfortunately playing Jake who dropped 194; second highest total of the season by any team.  Luckily for him, the other two 7-4 teams lost as well as Jeff lost to Ethan and Stacey lost to DJ.  DJ by the way still has only one loss on the season and is 11-1 at this point.  A mark that will surely go down in history.  The matchup of the week saw Heath beat Brian, securing his grip on a playoff spot, meanwhile Ethans win and the losses of all the 7-4 teams put all their records at 7-5.  Barr is quietly on a two game win streak after beating Seed and has climbed out of the bowels of the league into 9th place. Heath is also quietly on a two game winning streak.  With one week to go, the playoff teams are all locked, the only changes will be to the seeds of the teams.  Congratulations to Jeff, Heath, Derek, Ethan, and Stacey.  They will join DJ in the Domination League Playoffs, where anything can happen.  Hopefully its a little more exciting than last year which saw the teams ending up in the same places they went into the playoffs.

The #1 pick in the 2016 draft will be scrapped for by the teams who missed the playoffs.

Week 11

The domination of the week:  Derek 149.88 -- 89.02 Ethan

Futility of the week:  Brian who failed for a second time to beat DJ.

Writing this weeks after the fact since the second loss of the year to DJ totally devastated me.  Losing twice to DJ felt like what I assume having your virginity taken by a rapist feels like. Twice.  But I digress.  The playoffs loom large this week as the teams in places two through seven scramble to make the cut.  The matchup of 2nd place Stacey vs 4th place Jeff saw Jeff come away with the victory.  7th place Heath put it to Seed in a convincing win while 5th place Derek absolutely walloped 3rd place Ethan.  And yes, all those games had playoff implications, but the biggest story of the week was between two non-playoff teams.  Barr vs Jake in a matchup where Barr dropped 158 points.  Highest total of the week.  He's locked out of the playoffs but a performance like that is as close to redemption as you can get.

I won't post the standings from this week because it would be too much work for me to figure out what they were since Stacey, Jeff, and Derek were all 7-4 at this point and Heath and Ethan were both 6-5.  The top 6 were some order of those teams with obviously DJ in 1st.  Brian fell to 7th place.  Next week's matchup of the week will be Brian vs Heath, the then 6th and 7th place teams.

Week 10

The domination of the week:  Stacey 134.88 -- 105.26 Brian

Futility of the week:  Heath who lost to Jake after an uncharacteristically average performance from A.J. Green.

Week 10.  One week closer to the playoffs as only three weeks remain until the week 14 first round.  With a relatively narrow win over Seed, DJ has become the first team to clinch a playoff berth.  After being on the right end of the domination of the week the past three weeks, Brian finally found himself on the wrong end as he lost to Stacey by nearly 30 points.  Stacey is the next best bet to clinch a playoff berth before they actually begin as she sits comfortably in 2nd place with a record of 7-3.  As mentioned in the futility of the week, Heath continued his losing streak with a loss to Jake, who snapped his league-tied worst losing streak.  Barr put up some surprisingly good numbers this week but the most crucial one was -6.60 from future first ballot hall of famer Peyton Manning which ultimately led to his (league worst) seventh loss in a row.  Perhaps the most surprising win of the week goes to Jeff who has suffered yet another injury to his WR corps.  Either way, he halted his losing streak by beating Derek.  Places 3, 4, and 5 of the standings are occupied by three 6-4 teams.  Places 6 and 7 are owned by two 5-5 teams.  With his win, Jake is beginning to create a little separation from the bottom of the league although he remains in 8th place.

The matchup of week 11 is between two 6-4 teams:  Derek and Ethan.  Also 2nd place Stacey and 4th place Jeff square off as well as top of the playoff pool DJ vs bottom of it, Brian.  A win for Heath and a loss by Brian would push Heath back into the top 6 while Brian would fall out.  There are a lot of playoff implications this week and that figures to be the case from here on out.

1. DJ (9-1)
2. Stacey (7-3)
3. Ethan (6-4) ↑2
4. Jeff (6-4) ↑2
5. Derek (6-4) ↓2
6. Brian (5-5) ↓2
7. Heath (5-5)
8. Jake (3-7)
9. Seed (2-8)
10. Barr (1-9)

Week 9

The domination of the week:  Brian 195.38 -- 122.86 Jeff

Futility of the week:  Team 'no keepers' for a close yet still futile loss to team 'keepers' 705.04 - 697.94.

To keep, or not to keep? That was the question.  A question that proved to be a difficult one to decide as going into Monday night the point differential between the two sides was a measly .50 points.  But despite Danny Woodhead and Jeremy Langford's best efforts however, team 'no keeper' just couldn't hold off the onslaught of Philip Rivers, Alshon Jeffrey, and Martellus Bennett.  Congrats to Seed for his risky trade paying off.  The Domination League remains a keeper league for the indefinite future.

Places two through seven of the standings continue to be in a state of flux.  Stacey and Derek (aka team newlywed) both notched wins over the two worst teams in the league (Barr and Seed), propelling each of them to 6-3.  Meanwhile two 4-4 teams (Ethan and Brian) bested two 5-3 teams (Heath and Jeff) to leapfrog them in the standings.  Jake's subpar performance against DJ means DJ has now made it two wins in a row after losing, but it also brings him within one point of having the easiest schedule behind Derek.  He still has a strong hold on most points for however Brian is creeping closer and closer after three monster weeks in a row.  Ethan's team has scored the third most points for, and has suffered the most points against.  Barr is the only remaining team that has yet to break 1000 points for on the season.  He's sure to do so next week.

Only four weeks remain until the playoffs.  With the exception of DJ and Barr, it is still a free for all of who's in and who's out.  Even Seed and Jake, although highly unlikely, could conceivably get in.  And once you are in the playoffs it's win or go home to Barb for a bologna sandwich with a side of cheese puffs and a ginger ale.

1. DJ (8-1)
2. Stacey (6-3)
3. Derek (6-3) ↑1
4. Brian (5-4) ↑2
5. Ethan (5-4) ↑2
6. Jeff (5-4) ↓3
7. Heath (5-4) ↓2
8. Jake (2-7
9. Seed (2-7)
10. Barr (1-8)

Week 8

The domination of the week:  Brian 173.64 -- 123.08 Seed

Futility of the week:  Barr for coming oh so close to topping 100 points but falling just shy.

Injuries have pervaded the league in a major way this season so far.  From preseason keepers like Jordy Nelson to workhorse RBs like Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, and now Le'veon Bell and Matt Forte.  Even Dez Bryant and Marshawn Lynch missed time this year.  Its safe to say just about everyone has experienced the pain and devastation of having a premier player go down for at least a few weeks if not the remainder of the season.

Week 8 was fairly uneventful in terms of competitiveness.  Stacey, Brian, DJ, Jeff, and Derek all had pretty convincing wins.  The only game even remotely close going into Monday night was Derek's matchup with Heath but all doubt was erased early on in the game with a fumble recovery and then an INT for Derek's defense.  The parity in the league is also beginning to dissipate.  DJ halted his one game losing streak, while both Stacey and Jeff continued their respective four game win streaks.  Its worth noting that yet again Jeff gets the win but would have only beat one other team this week.  This is mostly due to three of his players suffering injuries and exiting their games.  Derek and Brian both are riding two game win streaks and jumped in the standings, as Ethan and Heath both fell drastically.  Both Jake and Barr are owners of five game losing streaks and although the outlook for Barr is grim, Jake has more hope after an intriguing trade between he and Seed sent his out-for-the-year RB Le'veon Bell away in exchange for the #1 fantasy player in the domination league, Devonta Freeman.  This move assures us all that Seed is in full rebuilding mode.  Further, the move may end up burning him to the third degree as a spontaneous league vote yielded an even split on whether or not to remain a keeper league hereafter.  After commissioner deliberation it was decided that week 9 will play stage to the most interesting matchup of the week so far:  those for vs those opposed to keepers.  The total points of starting lineups for the five opposed and the five for will be tallied at the end of the week and whoever accrues the most points gets the tiebreaker vote.  Set your optimal lineups people as the implications this week are far reaching.

1. DJ (7-1)
2. Stacey (5-3) ↑2
3. Jeff (5-3) ↑2
4. Derek (5-3) ↑2
5. Heath (5-3) ↓3
6. Brian (4-4) ↑1
7. Ethan (4-4) ↓4
8. Jake (2-6)
9. Seed (2-6)
10. Barr (1-7)

A small note about the blog:  I added a record book section on this blog.  To find it if you are on a computer just click the record book link on the right side of the page above the poll section.  If you are on a mobile device click the "Home" link right beneath the header and change it to "Record Book".  This is where I will keep updated records and most importantly keep track of past league champions.

Week 7

The domination of the week: Brian 193.70 -- 123.98 Jake

Futility of the week:  DJ for finally tasting defeat (futility of the year will also go to DJ for thinking he will win the title).

Rejoice, for the mighty have fallen! Praise be to Derek's team for finally handing DJ his first in whats sure to be a streak of many losses.  An impressive six game win streak finally comes to an end.  A streak, by the way, which fell only two games short of the all time domination league record set by Jake last year.  Other notable streaks in progress are two league best (at the moment) three game win streaks by Stacey and Jeff.  Stacey squeaked out a victory over Ethan this week, who is surely kicking himself (harder than the Catman kicked the ball) for playing Blount who posted a ghastly -0.30 points.  Jeff won in more convincing fashion over Seed, although other than Seed the only other team he would have beat was Jake.  On the other end of the streak spectrum, Jake is owner of a tied for league worst four game losing streak as well as a dark brown dookie streak in his underpants after Brian's team scored a tremendous 193 points against him.  Barr's team is owner of the other four game losing streak and although he finally joined the 100 point club again unfortunately it was a futile effort.  A fourth quarter TD pass from Palmer to Brown (both members of Heath's team) propelled Heath to victory after he had all but waved the white flag.

DJ still has accrued the most points for, but also still has the second least points against behind only Derek.  Stacey continues to have the toughest schedule as she still has the most points against.  Luckily she has the third most points for.  With his loss, Ethan falls one spot in the standings to third but sits atop the 4-3 teams and Heath reclaims his spot in second place.  The league is getting closer than ever as DJ only has a one game lead on second place now, and a two game lead on places 3 through 6.  Brian still remains in 7th place as the sole owner of a 3-4 record.  Both Seed and Jake lost but Jake leapfrogged Seed into 8th place thanks to his points for although both of them are well behind the next highest team in that category by about 80 points.  Barr brings up the rear with an abysmal 1-6 record and an embarrassing 712 points for total.

The game of the week for week 8 is 1st place DJ vs 3rd place Ethan. Six weeks remain until the playoffs and the playoff race is beginning to take shape.  Remember that the top two teams get a bye for the first week of the playoffs and the consolation playoff for the bottom four teams will determine who gets the first pick in the draft next year.

1. DJ (6-1)
2. Heath (5-2)  ↑1
3. Ethan (4-3)  ↓1
4. Stacey (4-3)  ↑1
5. Jeff (4-3)  ↓1
6. Derek (4-3)
7. Brian (3-4)
8. Jake (2-5)  ↑1
9. Seed (2-5)  ↓1
10. Barr (1-6)

Week 6

The domination of the week: Dj 170.18 -- 96.70 Barr

Futility of the week:  Brian for losing by a gut-wrenching .3 points.

Rivalry Week.  To the victor go the spoils.  Perhaps the most competitive week of this season so far excluding Barr who yet again got blown out by nearly 100 points, and failed YET AGAIN to score 100 himself.  As noted in the futility of the week, Ethan emerged from week 6 victorious over Brian by a half of an ass hair margin, extending his win streak to 3 games and catapulting him into 2nd place behind DJ who remains undefeated.  It should also be noted that although DJ does have the most points for, he also has the second fewest points against, further evidence of his continual luck.  Heath experienced his second loss in as many weeks, and slid one spot into 3rd place.  Heath is tied record-wise with Ethan but sporting the lowest points for of the top 5 teams.  The battle of the newly-weds-to-be concluded with Stacey handing Derek a loss in a relatively close matchup.  Perhaps for their wedding Stacey will be wearing the slacks and Derek will don the dress?  Jeff turned in the best performance of the week racking up 175.58 points in his win over Heath.  Both he and Stacey appear to be on the up and up and are riding two game win streaks.  Another team on a steady rise through the standings is Seed's who now sits in 8th place after his convincing win over Jake who fell one spot to 9th.  The defending champ is struggling to defend his title this year.

All of the movement in the standings is evidence of how close and competitive this league really is.  Aside from DJ in 1st and Barr in last every team is owner of only one of three records (4-2, 3-3, 2-4).  The week 7 matchups will surely only cloudy the standings further.  7 weeks remain until the playoffs where anything can happen.  The matchup of the week for week 7 is Jake vs Brian.  Two 2-4 teams who are on the precipice of falling into the depths with Barr and a loss now could be just the push that starts the fall.  The coveted top 6 spots become ever important with each passing week and I encourage you all to continue to bring it.

1. DJ (6-0)
2. Ethan (4-2)  ↑1
3. Heath (4-2)  ↓1
4. Jeff (3-3)  ↑2
5. Stacey (3-3)
6. Derek (3-3)  ↓2
7. Brian (2-4)
8. Seed (2-4)  ↑1
9. Jake (2-4)  ↓1
10. Barr (1-5)

Week 5

The domination of the week: Victorious Secret 141.66 -- 88.74 Chris's Crew

Futility of the week: Andy's Army for scoring the most points of a losing team.

Two undefeated teams enter; one remains.  The ever complacent DJ came out of week 5 on top and is the last undefeated team.  His performance this season is reminiscent of Jake's from a year ago.  Speaking of Jake, the defending champion has now suffered two straight losses and shares the longest losing streak with Barr, who's win two weeks ago will surely be his only one of the season as again he failed to eclipse 100 points.  That makes 4 out of 5 weeks for those of you who aren't counting.  He also is seated comfortably in dead last place with an embarrassing 483 points for accumulation which is nearly 100 points less than the next lowest: Seed.  On the other end of the league standings, aside from DJ's 5 game win streak, Ethan is owner of the longest at 2 games and is now in 3rd place, behind Heath who after a week of trading away his best players is looking like he may slide even further down the standings as the weeks progress.  He still has a one game cushion over the 3rd and 4th spots.  Both Derek and Stacey halted their losing streaks with convincing wins this week.  The blockbuster trades by Brian did little to help his team this week and he will now owe Derek a surely obscene amount of wings from Adams Golden Grill™.  Another team on the up and up is Jeff's who dominated Jake quite thoroughly.

The middle bulk of the league remains in a state of fluctuation which should make for an incredibly interesting and competitive playoff push.  Week 6 is officially "Rivalry Week".  Derek and Stacey square off in a battle of the newly weds to be and is the matchup of the week and should be commemorated with a wager.  Team name disses have already been exchanged in the battle between Brian and Ethan, and last place Barr looks to upend first place DJ.  Newcomer to the league Jeff vs newcomer to fantasy in general Heath face off,  and the final game of rivalry week is battle of the country boys: Seed vs Jake.

I'm going to start posting the standings on these posts and as you may have noticed I've begun using our names instead of team names because they change too often which makes it confusing.

1. DJ 5-0
2. Heath 4-1
3. Ethan 3-2
4. Derek 3-2
5. Stacey 2-3
6. Jeff 2-3
7. Brian 2-3
8. Jake 2-3
9. Seed 1-4
10. Chris 1-4

Week 4

The domination of the week: Corn on the Cobb 147.06 -- 96.94 Evan's Team

Futility of the week: Austin 316 for losing on a very controversial call late in the Monday night game.

Going into week 4 only two teams remained unbeaten, and same is true at the end of the week.  Corn on the Cobb and Josh Zool....Lejund stay lossless on the year, both in convincing fashion, and come racing head to head in week 5 in which one of them will topple from perfection.  The rest of the league can only watch and hope that DJ doesn't win.  This week saw its share of blowouts, close games, and even controversy.  The game of the week (Release the Kemmer vs Saved by the Bell) saw the former sealing the victory over the latter in the MNF game.  Mr. Jones & Me staved off a comeback by Chris's Crew on Monday night and won by a measly 4 points, second smallest margin of victory in the league this week.  The smallest margin of victory went to Andy's Army over Austin 316 in a very controversial win.  129 - 128 was the score thanks to a late 4th quarter missed call on a fumble on Monday night.  The Domination League launched an official investigation into the matter late last night, but as it stands, being that the officials on the field made the call of it being a turnover (right or wrong) it must stand.  It is a cruel reminder that this game we call fantasy football is 100% reliant on the successes and failures of other humans, even the refs..

Corn on the Cobb remains in the #1 spot and is the first person this season to stay there in back to back weeks.  He also leads the league in points for as Victorious Secret finally had an abysmal week of scoring.  After Andy's Army finally got into the win column, three tiers of the league clearly emerged.  The top two undefeated teams, then there are four 2-2 teams, followed by four 1-3 teams.  There isn't much room for error in this domination league as competition has been fierce and the standings remain close.  Victorious Secret and Evan's Team, two 1-3 teams, are both sporting relatively high points for statistics, however their points against stat is astronomically high.  And both Victorious Secret and Austin 316 are owners of a losing streak of 2, most in the league.  It makes one wonder if the newly-weds-to-be have their minds fully on this league?

The matchup of the week for week 5 is the battle of the unbeatens:  Josh Zool....Lejund vs Corn on the Cobb.  Before the matchup even starts Corn on the Cobb sees his lucky streak continue as Josh Zool...Lejund has over half of his starting lineup on bye.

Week 3

The domination of the week: Chris's Crew 139.56 -- 64.60 Andy's Army

Futility of the week: a three way tie between Cousin Stinkbomb, Victorious Secret, and Mr Jones & Me for each scoring over 150 points but losing to teams that each scored 180+.

Week 3 brings us one week closer to the playoffs and the league is taking shape.  Who once were three are now two as only Josh Zool....Lejund and Corn on the Cobb remain undefeated.  Third place is occupied by last years champ Saved by the Bell who is on a two week win streak since losing the first game of the season.  Victorious Secret is owner of the most points scored, however she also so terribly unfortunate to have the most points against as well, and sits in 5th place.  Absentminded is the best way to describe Andy's Army's week 3 however he informed the league that, much like last season which saw him in the championship game, week 4 is when he begins playing.  We'll see if  the last of the defeated can climb out of the 0-3 hole he's dug himself.

Josh Zool....Lejund will have the extra task this week of setting Mr Jones & Me's receiver/flex lineup for week 4 as per the wager made by both managers.

Everyone have a really shitty week 4!

Week 2

The domination of the week: Saved by the Bell over Chris's Crew 152.26 - 68.34

Futility of the week: Andy's Army

Week 2 was prefaced by a slew of trash talk, specifically from DJ is My Bitch towards Corn on the Cobb.  In the end though only three undefeated teams emerged:  Corn on the Cobb, Austin 316, and Dwayne ma Landry.  Who knows how the weeks will progress, but one thing is certain: it will be exciting as fuck.

Dominate Or Be Dominated

So this "blog" was started mostly to keep track of our weekly awards (futility & domination of the week) but I will also use it to post any amusing details that I find fit.  I will also post the weekly recaps here and allow for guest posts from each of you.

Last week was a thrilling week 1 of the second season of The Domination League.  A week which saw Ethan (Rifkins Dilemma) bringing home the domination of the week against Barr (Stairway to Evans/Chris's Crew) in a 70 point drubbing.  The futility of the week went to Seed (Andy's Army) for not starting a kicker who is even on an NFL squad.

We are well into week 2 at this point and the matchups are already taking shape.  The matchup of this week is Brian (DJ is my bitch) vs. DJ (Corn on the Cobb) in which DJ will surely be sent home crying to his wifey and fired from his job as counselor for needing too much counseling himself.
