WEEK 5

The Domination of the Week:    Christopher Barr 163.30 -- 93.04 Reigning Champ Skinner Dixon

It is very interesting to note here that this was the first week that he was unable to reach the century mark since week 3 of the 2015 season and it was only the 2nd time that he has been help under 100 in his 44 week career in The Domination League.

Futility of the Week:     Jefferson who lost to Jake (who was as red hot as his hair this week)
                                                                                    142-160.16

Starting with the futility of the week game, Jake had a really nice week from his QB Carson Wentz who is experiencing a great start to his sophomore season and is currently the QB6 of fantasy. Will Fuller V (by way of Notre Dame!) had a great second game coming off of a broken collar bone. He now has 4 touchdowns in as many games. There weren’t many negative things to write home about for Jake this week but Jay Ajayi continues to play extremely poorly and is just in the top 200 of all fantasy at 198, Jake needs him to start producing if he wants any chance of winning a second Dom Bowl. Overall it was a solid day for team Kareem in my Hunt but not solid enough obviously. The notable stat for the week for Jeff is a fellow D3 athlete, Pierre Garcon, had a great day 8 rec 94 rec yards. Garcon attended school at Mount Union which is the school where Jeff wrestled his first varsity dual meet his freshman year.

Next onto the powderpuff game of Le’Veon a prayer vs Gum Wud B Perfection (I still don’t understand the name). Brovie scored a whole 104.84 and still got the win. There isn’t much to note in this game besides the fact that the Jags put up another 28 points however they were on Eths bench. With the win Brovie is on a 2 game winning streak improving his team to 2-3. He seems to have built up a little steam since his 0-3 start. Every notification that Brovie gets from ESPN or Yahoo he just prays that it doesn’t say Ezekiel Elliot is suspend for 6 games starting this coming week. If that would happen we should expect more of the 0-3 team from him.

Andy’s Army had a dominating victory over DJ by the score of 140.58 to 89.72. This is the type of performance that we all should be expecting from DJ for the remainder of the season. DJ had Watson sitting on his bench this week and he put up another monstrous 35.54 while Brady was starting and only able to muster up a total of 12.62 against the weak Buccaneers. Evan had an overall good week besides Big Ben throwing 5 ints for the first time in his career. Its also nice to note that Mike Wallace score a very respectable 16.3 this week coming off a 17.5 week last week, howeer he was on Evs bench. Mike Wallace can still play ball and as long as Flacco decides to get the stick out of his ass Wallace should continue to play at the level I was talking about (WR2/3).

Heath was able to get the points he needed from Kyle Rudolph on Monday night to pull out the W over Stacey. 132.64-121.36 The most important take away from this game is the OBJ season ending ankle injury. Talk about adding salt to an open wound for Stacey who has only been able to pick up 1 win with OBJ in the lineup. It is going to be tough sledding from here on out without her number 1 pick.

Next we have the domination of the week between Barr and Derek. Barr got a great start to the week on Thursday when Cameron Brate scored 17.8 (5 rec 68 rec yards 1 td) and his team continued from there. His WRs continue to put up huge numbers Hopkins-27.2 and Green 29.9 number 1 and 3 fantasy WRs up to this point in the season. The question is can they keep it up and carry Barr back to the playoffs for the second season in a row. I am just going to be honest here, this week Derek’s team looked like a turd that Bolt shitted out in their back yard. Like mentioned above, Derek isn’t use to scoring this little of points so it will be interesting how he rebounds in the coming weeks.

On to the most important section of this blog which is, it’s

RIVALRY WEEK!!!! RIVALRY WEEK!!!!! RIVALRY WEEK!!!!!

Derek 4 wins VS Stacey 2 wins
Let’s start out with the wedded couple, they have paired up the most out of the rivalry teams, because they have met in the first round of the playoffs 2 out of 3 years. Derek winning both of them very handily. 171.64-128.76 in ’14 and 156.82-115.60 in ’15 They did not meet in the ’16 playoffs because Stacey was in the losers bracket. The total scores are 915.44 for Derek to 796.22 for Stacey. Since the start of Rivalry Week it series is 1-1. This coming week will be a great chance for Stacey to tighten the gap in the series since Derek will be missing Mixon and Baldwin on byes and Clay out because of injury. Can she do it?!!

Evan 2 wins VS Ethan 2 wins
Lets get some brotherly love going on in here. They have met 2 times in both seasons that Evan has been a part of the league. Ethan won the first two meetings in ’14 and Ev won both of the meetings last year on his way to the Dom Bowl. The total scores are extremely close in this one I double checked my math to make sure that I typed them in correctly 526.6 for Evan and 526.32 for Ethan. They met one time since the beginning of rivalry week and Ev owns the one win. Can Ethan get that first win against his little brother since the ’14 season or will he continue to be dominated?

Jeff 2 wins VS Heath 1 win
This rivalry started in the ’15 season when Jeff beat Heath 175.58 – 117.44 and Jeff also picked up the rivalry week win last season making the rivalry week series 2-0 in his favor. Last season these two teams played back to back weeks, Heath winning the other meeting. The totals score is 434.96 for Jeff to 341.5 for Heath. Will the basic ass android using art teacher be able to pull the upset and beat the league leader, we shall see.

Chris 2 wins VS Jake 3 wins
These two teams have met 5 times since the start of the league but only one time in rivalry week when Jake beat Chris by the score of 144.74 -109.16 last season. The total score of the season is 670.64 for Jake to 538.78 for Chris. It is important to note that both of these teams were 1 and 2 in scoring in week 5 and were separated by less than 1 point. Will both teams ride their hot streak into week 6 or will be see Jake’s team simmer back down to the pile of waste that it is?

DJ 5 wins VS Brovie 0 wins
Yes you guys are reading that right. DJ has completely dominated Brian up to this point in both their storied careers in The Domination League. This is the matchup that we all look up to see when they play each other and wait patiently to see. It is obvious that Brian is DJ’s bitch in fantasy which makes him a bitch’s bitch, the bitchiest of bitches. There really isn’t much to talk about here because DJ runs house here. The total score of the series is 649.28 – 532.68 and it is noteworthy that Brian has score 101 points 3 of the 5 weeks that they have played. We will have to wait and see if Brian can break through the ice and pick up that coveted win that he has been patiently waiting for over 3 years.

Week 1

Welcome all to the 2017 NFL season and the 4th season of the Domination League.  As I'm writing this, week 2 is already in the books but I will do my best to appropriately recap week 1.

The Domination of the Week:  Evan 108.42 -- 75.00 Stacey

Futility of the Week:  Derek, who lost to one of only two people who scored more points than him.

Points were hard to come by in week one.  Especially for Heath and Stacey who both failed to reach 100 points.  A feat that hasn't been done in the history of the Domination League.  Stacey scored an all time opening week low eking out a measly 75 points in a loss to Evan and Heath managed 90.44 in a loss to Barr who scored only 107.54 and would've lost to everyone else but Stacey.  The closest matchup of the week was Derek vs Jake which ended in a 132.64 to 127.70 win for the fire crotch.  Jeff racked up the most points of the week and was the only league member to actually exceed their pregame projection (by .4) in a win against Brian.  The final matchup of the week saw DJ beat Ethan mostly because of astronomical totals from his punter who scored 12 points and Austin fuckin Hooper.

Just about everyone will be expecting bigger performances from their teams in week 2.  The matchup of the week for week 2 will be the only two undefeated teams playing each other:  Jeff vs Evan.

Week 11

--and now back to your regularly scheduled blogging--

The Domination of the Week:  Jeff 130.94  --  103.98 Stacey

Futility of the Week:  Brian, scoring the second most points in the league but falling to Derek who scored the most points.

Victory margins were close this week much the same as the closeness of the playoffs.  Jeff's 27 point win over Stacey was the smallest domination of the week to date this season.  The loss to Jeff marks 3 consecutive losses for Stace as she's fallen into 9th place and Jeff scales to 8th.  Ethan made his streak 2 wins in a row with one over Heath this week and he joins Jeff and Stacey at 4-7 although he still sits in 10th place.  The loss for Heath marks his 2nd in a row and joins Jake who found a win against Barr in the ever anticipated rubber match of the umbrella matchup at 5-6.  Heath sits in 7th place while Jake, who has the edge in points for, occupies the 6th and final playoff spot... for now.  DJ handled Evan who had probably the worst fantasy week in terms of injuries I've ever seen.  With his loss, Evan joins Barr and Derek at 6-5 and is situated between the two of the standings.  Derek is in 3rd, Ev in 4th, and Barr is desperately clinging to that 5th spot as he is generally concerned about his team having lost two straight.  With his win in combination with Brian's loss, DJ moves into 1st place and is the first team to clinch a playoff berth.  By my calculations, no team is out of the playoff hunt as of now.

Thursday Thanksgiving games saw a lot of points being had by many.  Solid performances by Crowder and Moncrief delivered 33.30 points for Ethan but a monster 3 TD game from AB helped Brian keep pace with 32.10 points in their matchup.  The third installment of the newlywed matchup began with Derek's Vikings defense coming back down to Earth after the traditional blow-up against Brian, but a great game by Elliott and nice outing by Hopkins (K) have Derek at a slim 37.00 - 32.60 lead over Stacey who saw a very nice game from DeSean Jackson and Riddick.  The matchup of Heath vs Jake saw both teams initially falling short of projections as Hilton registered a sub-par game for Jake while Tate and Witten both delivered less than desirable performances for Heath.  Heath has the lead 19.00 - 8.40.  In probably the most crucial matchup of the week and maybe of the year, one team could tighten their grip on that final playoff spot.  4th place Evan and 5th place Barr are squaring off this week and Evan holds a slight advantage after the Thursday games behind a typically stellar effort by Bell.  Bailey also notched a good performance while his defense, the cowboys, got him a nice goose egg.  Meanwhile Barr had a solid performance from Big Ben but sub-par ones from his RB duo of Kelley and Gore.  Hindsight will tell him he should have went with Jones.  The final matchup is Jeff vs DJ and is off to a heated start.  Jeff enjoyed a phenomenal performance from Reed and a good one from Dez, while DJ had Dak do his usual thing but surely desired more from Vinatieri who registered just 1 point.  Jeff leads 43.70 - 22.70.

The matchups are getting ever more pivotal as the playoffs are just two weeks away.  There is still much room to move both up and down in the standings and we are sure to see more fluctuation in this week and the next.  I generally hope everyone had a great thanksgiving yesterday.

Week 10

So the Browns are 0-10. The 76ers, Hornets and Mavericks are a combine 5-25. Wow it sucks to suck.

This year the domination league doesn't really have a "shitty" team since everyone is above 3 wins. It makes for a competitive league and it looks like I will finally make the playoffs and stop the drought.

Domination of the Week: Derek destroying Heath 176.54 - 110.92. The 65.62 point victory also lead to the name change for Heath. Heath is known this week as Rusty's Sperm. It's pretty creative if you ask me!

Futility of the Week: This goes to myself. Second place lost to last place and it was a tough one to swallow. Ethan won 118.30 - 113.62. Maybe Brian saying my team is not a threat is a correct statement.

We are in Week 11 already which is crazy. This whole year is going crazy. We have some very intriguing matches this week. Second place DJ battles Third place Evan. It is ironic that we get rid of someone who never set his lineups and then we acquire someone who never texts or follows the domination league rules. This needs to be addressed in the offseason by the commissioner. Ethan takes on Heath in a pivot match for Heath. He is currently sitting in the last playoff spot but Jake and Stacey are both on his ass for that last playoff berth. According to a source, Football Team is "gonna be the playoff hawk and whoop all your asses out of the playoffs" he already beat me so .......
Stacey plays Jeff which will be a win for Stacey because Jeff is still trying to make deals when the deadline was over last weekend......

Brian and Derek battle for what should be the best matchup. Both of these teams can put up huge numbers if they want too. Brian is looking like the front runner right now as he has been dominating since I delivered him a loss 4 weeks ago. Still barely behind Jeff, Derek has given up a shit load of points which is honestly just luck. Derek is still one of the clear cut favorites to hold the trophy at the end of the year.

The umbrella matchup is happening for the third time. Jake has numerous players on Thursday night as do I. It should be interesting.

Matchup of the Week: DJ VS Evan. This is solely based on the current standings.

With the byes about out of the way, the playoffs are looming. Things are starting to play out and the playoff teams are being apparent. Make sure you check out the podcast Caldwell started, it is some good shit!
Hopefully we can all get together over the holidays and watch some football. If I lose the damn umbrella match-up I will have to bring Jake that fucking umbrella.

Week 9

Donald Trump is the next president of the United States of America. Damn.

Anyhow last week was an important week in the domination league. We are finally able to tell what teams are "for real" and what teams are just banking on waiver pickups to survive.

Domination of the Week: Chris defeating Derek by 38.80 points. We should have known when Mike Evans went off for 38 points on Thursday, that Chris's team was do for a big win.

Futility of the Week: Stacey.  Stacy just had a bad week, it's fantasy football, it happens.

<<<<<<<<<50 POINT ALERT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Brian beat the shit out of Jeff with a 54.22 point win and renaming Jeff's team to Eileen. With the win, The Brovie Bunch officially move back into first place with a 6-3 record. Heath also won by 62.34 with his victory over Stacey. After discussing it with me, he went with Oh Tuck Me. It Fitz! It's original but it works.

The trade deadline is this Saturday so if anyone wants to pound out any more deals, now is the time to do it. If the playoffs started today: Brian, Chris, DJ, Evan, Heath and Derek would be your teams. Jake is still in the running and will have the umbrella matchup next week with me to determine who keeps the fucking umbrella. Stacey is also tied with Derek and Jake at 4-5. This is by far the most competitive season of the Domination League. It seems like once Seed left, everything changed .......

Matchup of the week is Jake vs. DJ. DJ is still holding on to his playoff berth while Jake is staying alive and looking dangerous. DJ is scared of Jake's team, according to a source. It should be another great week of  domination.

We have two more weeks to cover mostly all the byes until week 13 when the shitty Browns and Titans are on byes.

Good luck this week. Dominate or get dominated!!!!!!!

Week 8

The Domination of the Week:  Evan 165.00  --  99.46 Ethan

Futility of the Week:  Derek, who would've beaten any other loser this week but lost to any other winner.

!!! DOUBLE 50 POINT WIN ALERT !!!
Week 8 and we are already at an alarming rate of 50 point wins.  This week marks the fourth week where a double 50 point win alert has been issued.  This clearly is a historic pace.  Evan whooped his big bro Ethan to the tune of 65 points, while Brian dismissed Heath, who scored the least amount of points this week, by 65 also.  Heath's name for the week will be "Blind Squirrel" meanwhile Evan chooses to shit all over the domination league constitution and still hasn't picked a name for Ethan.  Penalties will be incurred if he fails to choose a name by Sunday.

With his win, Evan extends his winning streak to 3 in a row and rockets into the top spot of the standings thanks to Derek and Barr losing to DJ and Stacey, respectively.  Brian leapfrogs the pair as well into second place thanks to his win.  It is worth noting that Brian has the lowest points against score on the season, but across the league this stat has never been closer as the difference between the highest (Derek) and lowest is only 180 points.  Perhaps the most unremarkable game of the week was 7th place Jake vs 9th place Jeff.  Jeff came out on top after scoring the second most points of the league this week by .04.  His win ties their records at 3-5 and drops Jake back down to 9th place and allows Jeff to climb to 8th.  Heath's loss sees him fall into 7th place and Stacey's second win in a row vaults her into 6th place over Heath on points for as both have 4-4 records.  Derek falls to 5th place with his second loss in a row and evens his win-loss record out at 4-4 as well.  DJ, Barr, Brian, and Evan all own 5-3 records and are placed in reverse order of how I just listed them 4th to 1st.

The trade deadline is November 12th which is just a week from Saturday so we are sure to see some last minute trade scrambling done.  The playoffs are a mere 6 weeks away.  Be advised that the Domination League Playoffs run from week 14 through week 16.

The matchup of week 9 is 9th place Jake vs 1st place Evan.  Other noteworthy matchups are 3rd place Barr vs 5th place Derek and 6th place Stacey vs 7th place Heath.

Standings:
1. Evan (5-3) ↑2
2. Brian (5-3) ↑2
3. Chris (5-3) ↓2
4. DJ (5-3) ↑1
5. Derek (4-4) ↓3
6. Stacey (4-4) ↑2
7. Heath (4-4) ↓1
8. Jeff (3-5) ↑1
9. Jake (3-5) ↓2
10. Ethan (2-6)

Week 7

The Domination of the Week: Jake 163.38  --  109.22 Ethan

Futility of the Week:  DJ for his weak ass "sparkle croch" diss.

!!! 50 Point Win Alert !!!
Yet another 50 point win has graced this league with its presence.  Jake had a savage, rabid, jerk-off spree on Ethan's team, beating him by 54 points.  Ethan's team will be known as Lanky String Bean Lookin Bitchass or LSBLB for this week.

We nearly had another double 50 point win alert this week but Jeff just narrowly avoided a 50 point loss to as Heath got his immediate revenge from the loss to Jeff last week.

The rest of week 7 featured a win by Barr, who now finds himself once again atop the standings, over Brian.  Barr was the only one of the top four to win, as DJ and Derek also lost to Stacey and Evan, respectively.

The top four spots of the league remain in a yo-yo state.  Barr's ascension to the top coincides with Brian and Derek both falling.  Evan and Jake both propelled themselves up in the standings while riding 2 game win streaks which are the best in the league.  Ethan and Brian both hold the dishonorable distinction of having the worst losing streak in the league at 2 games in a row.  After the previous two season saw massive win and loss streaks by various contenders, this season is far from the same.  Ethan and Jeff, who are both 2-5 are only 3 games behind Barr in first place at 5-2.  The rest of the league is wither 4-3 or 3-4.  Competition is as fierce as its ever been this season.

The matchup of week 8 will be Derek vs DJ in a battle of two 4-3 playoff contenders.

Standings:
1. Barr (5-3) ↑1
2. Derek (4-3) ↓1
3. Evan (4-3) ↑2
4. Brian (4-3) ↓1
5. DJ (4-3) ↓1
6. Heath (4-3)
7. Jake (3-4) ↑2
8. Stacey (3-4)
9. Jeff (2-5) ↓2
10. Ethan (2-5)

Week 6

The Domination of the Week:  Jeff 156.66  --  74.00 Heath

Futility of the Week:  Brian for barely surpassing 100 points in a losing effort to DJ

Rivalry week is in the books and Jeff, Derek, DJ, Jake, and Evan all experienced sweet victory.  Jake's win against Barr means Barr better bust out the wallet for that shipping label for the umbrella he will ship back to Jake.  The weekend games were prefaced by a frenzy of trade action after Heath traded the farm in David Johnson for fantasy pocket change to the already stacked East Dillon Lions.  In an attempt to keep pace, Brian traded his 2017 first round draft pick to Jeff for Demarco Murray, but it was little help at least immediately.  Jeff also acquired an additional second round 2017 pick from Heath for Julian Edelman.  And in the spirit of fantasy football, he still managed to secure a very convincing victory and rack up the 2nd most points of the week despite trading away two of his top players for next to no immediate returns.

With Derek's and DJ's wins, and losses by Brian and Barr, the top of the standings come together as all four hold 4-2 records.  Evan and Heath both have 3-3 records while the rest of the league is rounded out by 2-4 records.  This apparent parity of the league figures to disperse as the talent difference of teams looks as uneven as its ever been.  To make matters worse for the competition at the top of the league, Barr suffered some potentially crippling injuries this week with Eddie Lacy and Big Ben, an injury that is sure to also impact Brian's team with Antonio Brown.  It appears as if this season is Derek's to lose, despite the unpredictable nature of the sport itself.

The Thursday game saw the Packers win easily against the Bears and a few teams had players in that matchup.  The most notable performance was by Davante Adams, who sits comfortably on the waiver wire.  Cobb turned in the next best performance for Heath who is seeking redemption this week.  Montgomery also put up solid numbers and exceeded his projection, however,  Howard, Jeffery, Nelson, and Meredith all put in sub-par performances.

Week 7 will get us over the hump of the season and a week closer to the playoffs.  The matchup of the week is 2nd place Barr vs 3rd place Brian as each cling to the upper tier of the league.

Standings:
1. Derek (4-2) ↑3
2. Barr (4-2)
3. Brian (4-2) ↓2
4. DJ (4-2)
5. Evan (3-3) ↑1
6. Heath (3-3) ↓1
7. Jeff (2-4) ↑2
8. Stacey (2-4) ↓1
9. Jake (2-4) ↑1
10. Ethan (2-4) ↓2

Week 5

The Domination of the Week:  Ethan 176.36  --  134.78 Derek

Futility of the Week:  DJ who lost in the championship rematch against Heath.

One week after doling out a 50+ point beating and being the domination of the week, Derek finds himself on the wrong side of the domination of the week.  Ethan, who was sitting firmly in last place all season, blew the doors off the matchup and put up the highest point total of the week as well as the biggest win margin.  The stay at the top of the league this season has proved to be fleeting as Derek now knows.  Little hype surrounded the championship rematch of Heath vs DJ but it ended up being the closest one.  In the end Heath snagged the victory with a win on Monday night and a win margin reminiscent of last years title game. Stacey secured a relatively unexciting win over Jake.  Both Heath and Stacey snap their 2 game losing streaks with their wins this week.  Jeff's team struggled mightily this week, barely surpassing 100 points in a loss to Barr.  Both Jeff and Jake are owners of two game losing streaks.  Barr moves to 4-1 with his win and Brian, with his win over Evan, does the same.  With his third straight win, Brian climbs into 1st place and Barr follows into 2nd as Derek falls to 3rd with his loss.  DJ remains firmly in 4th place and Heath yo-yos back up to 5th.  Evan falls to 6th while Stacey hops up to 7th.  Ethan climbs two spots to 8th while Jeff falls to 9th and Jake to 10th.

Week 6 is rivalry week so there is no matchup of the week.  Or every matchup is the matchup of the week.  Brian and DJ face off, the newlywed battle part 2 will also take place as Stacey looks for revenge.  Jake and Barr also have a rematch after Barr got the best of the umbrella matchup.  Jeff and Heath will battle as hopefully some of the draft day tension has carried over between the two.  The final matchup is the Makin matchup, Evan vs Ethan.

Week 6, of all weeks, will serve as a reminder that in The Domination League defeat is not conceded.  Defeat is forced down the throat of either you or your adversary and victory is plundered while the loser gasps for air.  Each of us begins the week with an immense pile of hope 10 roster spots tall, and each week 5 of us watch that pile of hope burn to the ground like dry tinder.  In each matchup there is the final, inevitable moment;  just after victory has been snatched, yet just before hope swells again for the following week.  In that moment is where pure domination lives, and only one will experience it, while suffocating defeat is thrown over the other like a blanket made of lead.  Revel in the hope while it lasts and pray to the gods of fantasy football that you are the one who tastes the sweet flavors of pure domination.

Standings:
1. Brian (4-1) ↑1
2. Barr (4-1) ↑1
3. Derek (3-2) ↓2
4. DJ (3-2)
5. Heath (3-2) ↑1
6. Evan (2-3) ↓1
7. Stacey (2-3) ↑1
8. Ethan (2-3) ↑2
9. Jeff (1-4) ↓2
10. Jake (1-4) ↓1

Week 4

The Domination of the Week:  Derek 216.62  --  155.88 Jeff

Futility of the Week:  Jeff who would've won had he not played the freight train that was Derek's team.

!!! Double 50 Point Win Alert !!!
For the second week in a row we have a double 50 point win alert, and for the second week in a row one of the winners is Derek.  After racking up 50 on Stacey last week, his team absolutely exploded for 216 points against Jeff, who put up the second highest points this week in a futile effort.  Derek joins the 200 point club as only its 2nd member.  The other 50 point win was Brian over Jake.  This one had more to do with Jake struggling mightily than anything else as he scored a measly 79 points.  Jeff's team for the week will now be known as "Dimple-Faced Dipshit" and Jakes will be known as "Ron Weasley Taint".

Though there were two 50 point wins, the league was on high alert going into the Monday night game as two other teams were down by 50.  Stacey narrowly avoided having her name changed again, which is good for her considering she hasn't changed her name from last week's domination.  In the end Ethan stopped his 3 game skid and found his first win by beating Stacey by 44.  It's worth noting that only Jake would have also lost to Ethan this week.  The other 50 point win watch was for Evan and Heath's matchup.  Kyle Rudolph erased all hope for Evan's as he caught a TD pass early in the game.  Evan gets the win but not the name change.  Its interesting to note that both Heath and Stacey, although getting small victories by not losing by 50, are on 2-game losing streaks.  The matchup of the week was a relatively close game, undefeated Barr vs DJ ended in DJ getting the win and handing Barr his first loss.  No more zeros remain in anyone's win-loss column.

With his third straight win and Barr's loss, Derek jumps up into first place and Brian follows right behind him into 2nd, while Barr falls to 3rd.  DJ comes in at 4th or last place of the 3-1 teams.  Two 2-2 teams (fun to say) come next; Evan climbs one spot to 5th place and Heath slips into 6th.  The final four spots are owned by 1-3 teams.  Despite a loss, Jeff climbs one spot into 7th while Stacey falls to 8th.  Jake and Ethan round out the final 2 as it has been since week 1.

The matchup of week 5 is 1st vs last; Derek vs Ethan.

Standings:
1. Derek (3-1) ↑1
2. Brian (3-1) ↑1
3. Barr (3-1) ↓2
4. DJ (3-1)
5. Evan (2-2) ↑1
6. Heath (2-2) ↓1
7. Jeff (1-3) ↑1
8. Stacey (1-3) ↓1
9. Jake (1-3)
10. Ethan (1-3)

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Week 3

The Domination of the Week:  Jake 181.14 -- 115.62 Heath

Futility of the Week:  Ethan who's injury depleted lineup suffered further thanks to an abysmal performance from Carson Palmer

!!! Double 50 Point Win Alert !!!
This week had more than it's fair share of domination.  Derek destroyed Stacey by 50+ in the matchup of the week.  Perhaps its the beginning of the end for the newly weds after such a drubbing.  The other domination came from an unexpected source.  Jake, who got beat just last week by 50, dismissed of the defending champ Heath by 65 points.  While Derek is still considering all options for what to call his wife's team for this week, it has already been decided by Jake that Heath's team will be known as "The Ass that DJ eats".  Week 3 and we already have 3 50 point dominations.

The other matchups of this week were far from exciting.  Brian defeated the entirely dismantled squad that Ethan owns.  Barr beat Evan, who forgot to start an active TE, by nearly 20 points despite a goose egg from Kelvin Benjamin to bring him to 3-0 (Barr now has exactly as many wins as he accrued last season).  And Jeff devoured DJ just like DJ devours ass.  The only two remaining zeroes in anyone's win-loss records are Barr's 0 losses and Ethan's 0 wins.  The rest of the league owns either a 2-1 or 1-2 record.  Competition is as fierce as its ever been in the Domination League.

The upper part of the standings saw quite the shakeup this week as 2 of the 3 undefeated teams lost and 2 of 3 winless teams found wins.  Derek catapults into 2nd place and Brian climbs to 3rd while DJ falls to 4th.  Heath skids down to 5th place and Evan Falls one spot to 6th; the cusp of the playoff teams.  Stacey falls dramatically into 7th from 4th.  The bottom teams remain the same.

1. Barr (3-0)
2. Derek (2-1) ↑5
3. Brian (2-1) ↑3
4. DJ (2-1) ↓1
5. Heath (2-1) ↓3
6. Evan (1-2) ↓1
7. Stacey (1-2) ↓3
8. Jeff (1-2)
9. Jake (1-2)
10. Ethan (0-3)

Week 2

The Domination of the Week:  Barr 163.46 -- 112.02 Jake

Futility of the Week:  Evan who lost to DJ by less than a point

Week 2 is already in the books and what a week it was.  Sunday matchups were prefaced by a lot of name calling, trash talk, and then backing off of said trash talk from Barr and Jake, prompting the commissioner to make an unprecedented mid-week change to the matchup of the week.  In the end the umbrella matchup ended up being the domination of the week as Barr manhandled Jake to the tune of 50+ for our first such occurrence of the season.  For this week Jake's team will be known as Barr's Little Bitch.  We were on double 50 point win alert as Heath looked like he might eclipse the mark against Ethan but fell short by just 6 points.  Either way the defending champ is putting together a successful title defense so far.  As mentioned in the futility of the week, Evan saw his win against DJ slip from his hands and fall to the ground just like the TD pass Jordan Matthews dropped.  Stacey who has inexplicably changed her name to "DicksOutForHarambe" eeked by Jeff by about 4 points and Derek secured an 11 point victory over Brian to bring both of them to 1-1.  Barr, DJ, and Heath all remain undefeated while Jeff, Jake, and Ethan stay winless.  The rest of us own a 1-1 record.  The season is still in its infancy but the standings have yielded a sight I don't think any of us ever thought we'd see; Barr sits in 1st place of the domination league.

The matchup of week 3 is Stacey vs Derek in what we will surely refer to as the divorce game in the future.  We also have two 2-0 teams squaring off against two 0-2 teams looking to pull the upset as Heath faces Jake and DJ faces Jeff.  The cream will eventually rise to the top of the standings but these first few weeks will be crucial.

Standings:
1. Barr (2-0) ↑3
2. Heath (2-0) ↑1
3. DJ (2-0) ↑2
4. Stacey (1-1) ↑2
5. Evan (1-1) ↓3
6. Brian (1-1) ↓5
7. Derek (1-1)
8. Jeff (0-2)
9. Jake (0-2)
10. Ethan (0-2)

Week 1

The Domination of the Week:  Evan 173.00  --  136.86 Jeff

Futility of the Week:  Stacey for scoring the third most points of the week in a losing effort.

And so it has begun.  The third season of the domination league started with a bang on Thursday night as Barr and Heath got off to rapid starts on the heels of Kelvin Benjamin and CJ Anderson respectively.  That too-soon Benjamin pick isn't looking all that bad in hindsight.  The first matchup to conclude was coincidentally the matchup of the week as well as what turned out to be the domination of the week.  Evan dominated Jeff by 36 points in the battle of the misleading team names.  Monster performances from Luck, Green, and even Dan Bailey got Evan off to a fast lead, one that would prove to be insurmountable as Jeff's trio of Patriots players failed to bring him back.  Their matchup concluded on Sunday night.  All of the other matchups were relatively close heading into Monday and each team had at least one player playing that evening.  Barr put the win out of reach for Ethan after Big Ben put him up by 32 with only Ethan's defense left (The Rams who got shredded).  Its worth noting that Barr was the runner up for domination of the week.  Could this be the year of Barr??  Stacey seemingly had the win locked up against Brian but when you have Antonio Brown nothing is out of the realm of possibility.  Thanks to Brown and a resurgent Carlos Hyde he overcame a 42 point deficit to win 177 to 171 in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.  It's interesting that for the second season in a row Stacey has lost to me in week 1 while I score the most points of the week.  Last season Stacey had the second most points against her accrued for the year and she is off to a similar start this year.  The closest matchup heading into Monday was Derek vs the defending champion, Heath.  The RB heavy draft didn't quite work out for Derek in week 1 as both Elliot and Ingram underperformed.  Both team's QBs didn't quite live up to expectations either and in the end Heath got the victory.  I'll note, however, that Heath has already been bitten by the injury bug as Keenan Allen is lost for the season and Russell Wilson is questionable for week 2.  In an attempt to remedy the situation a trade was made which sent Jordan Reed and the Carolina Defense to Ethan in exchange for Delanie Walker and Stefon Diggs.  Unfortunately week 1 didn't see any team win by 50+ but such instances happened on about a dozen occasions last season.

The week 2 matchup of the week is The Umbrella Matchup: Barr vs Jake.  Trash talk abounds and Barr has suddenly come to life with the disses after a strong week 1 win.

Standings;
1. Brian (1-0)
2. Evan (1-0)
3. Heath (1-0)
4. Barr (1-0)
5. DJ (1-0)
6. Stacey (0-1)
7. Derek (0-1)
8. Jeff (0-1)
9. Jake (0-1)
10. Ethan (0-1)

Here At Last

Finally, the 2016 season is but a day away.  Thursday night will serve as a nice appetizer for week 1 as several teams will have players suiting up in the Super Bowl rematch.  The matchup of the week is Jeff's Evan's Team vs Evan's Andy's Army in a game that is sure to yield no team name changes now, or ever probably.  A few changes have been made to the league during the grueling offseason.  The most notable change is the new 50+ point rule wherein if a team loses by 50 or more points, the winning team gets to change the losing team's name for the following week.  Trading of draft picks and a stipulation that teams keeper players for the following season must be on the team's roster no later than week 10 of the regular season were the other two changes made.

This season is sure to bring more of the same excitement we've seen in the previous two seasons.  Blowouts and wins by fractions of a point are near certainties.  However, many questions loom that only time will answer.  Will DJ and Heath fall from grace back to the bottom of the league after a historic season from both? Probably.  Will Jake return to the top? Doubtful.  Will Ethan, Derek, or Stacey, who have been perennial playoff teams, finally break through to win the title? No.  Will perennial non-playoff team, Barr, EVER make the playoffs? Also no.  Who will be most hurt by the inevitable injuries? DJ.  How many trades will the commissioner make? Infinite.  Who will taste the sweet sweet pleasures of total domination? Me.

I wish you all terrible rotten luck this season as I claim the title.

Sincerely,

Your Commissioner

The Domination League Championship

And then there were two.  And perhaps the two most improbable teams at the start of the year.  DJs inaugural season left something to be desired but his strategy of going WR heavy in this year's draft proved early and often to be wise (and somewhat lucky) so its no surprise he found himself in the championship.  On the other hand Heath, who was last year's sacko, started the season off well with a fantastic draft himself, but seemed to have been rattled in week 5 when bye weeks issues for the battle of the unbeatens with DJ saw him trade away Adrian Peterson followed by Jarvis Landry.  He later would part ways with NFL MVP Cam Newton for Desean Jackson.  But no amount of trades would negate fate as it was destiny for Heath to complete the ever fabled Worst to First season.  He won a thrilling championship game 147.80 to 136.74.  In one week Heath achieved revenge for the week 5 loss to DJ, worst to first status, the first upset in Domination league playoff history, and Domination League Champion.  A title that will live with him for at least a year.  Congratulations Heath, but don't get too comfortable as champion.

The consolation championship was hardly a contest as Brian decimated Jake 208.18 - 140.62 and joined himself as only the second person to ever score 200+ points in a week.  With the victory he claims the first pick in the 2016 draft.

DJ is now the owner of most wins in the regular season with his historic 12 win season.  A mark that will surely be difficult to beat.  Other notable records set this season are:  Barr with fewest points scored in the regular season with 1483.16 and Seed with fewest points scored in a week with 64.60.

The final standings are as follows:
1. Heath
2. DJ
3. Ethan
4. Derek
5. Jeff
6. Stacey
7. Brian
8. Jake
9. Barr
10. Seed

The 2016 draft order will be:
1. Brian
2. Jake
3. Barr
4. Seed
5. Stacey
6. Jeff
7. Derek
8. Ethan
9. DJ
10. Heath

We will reconvene at some point during the offseason to discuss and vote on any proposals for league changes.  Remember to consider who you want as your keeper for the 2016 season.
